About Cory Wong
Cory Wong is an American guitarist known for rhythm-first, funk-driven playing, a member of Vulfpeck and a prolific solo artist. He is best known as a Stratocaster player, and in recent years he has worked closely with Ernie Ball Music Man on a different design: the StingRay II, a humbucker-equipped six-string based on the StingRay bass, built because he wanted more girth than single-coils gave him.
The Ernie Ball Music Man version has custom-wound Cory Wong humbuckers and Schaller locking machine heads and is made in the USA. A more affordable Sterling by Music Man version carries the same design at a lower price.
His pedal collaborations include the Hotone Wong Press, a four-in-one volume, expression and wah pedal tuned to his specifications, and the Wampler Cory Wong Compressor, a variation on the EGO Compressor that has long been part of his sound, with a boost function and an XLR output.
