About TONE3000

TONE3000 is the community and capture platform built around Neural Amp Modeler (NAM), the open-source amp modeling technology created by Steve Atkinson. It was formed when ToneHunt, a community for sharing and discovering tones, was merged with TONEZONE3000's free online gear capture into a single platform, with existing accounts and content migrated. Stanley Vergilis is described as co-founder and CEO, and Woodbury Shortridge as co-founder and CTO.

The company describes itself as the largest community-driven platform for sharing digital models of amps, pedals, outboard gear and full signal chains. It launched NAM A2, the second architecture of Neural Amp Modeler, on June 2, 2026, in partnership with Atkinson, saying it is fully open source and can run on hardware as small as a $3 chip. By TONE3000's own figures the library grew from 300,000 to over 700,000 tones in three months, with more than 600,000 monthly users. These are company-reported numbers, and its accuracy claims are likewise from its own marketing.

Tones are delivered through a plug-in, and hardware makers including Blackstar, Darkglass and HeadRush have said they support A2. Guitar Radar follows TONE3000 and NAM news.
