BOSS has added the Katana-25 to its long-running modeling-amp family, packaging a 25-watt reactive analog power stage and a custom 8-inch speaker into a compact 1x8 combo aimed at home playing. The front panel offers six amp characters, including an acoustic setting, with variations that expand the core voice set. Power control switches between the full 25 watts and a 0.5-watt setting for quieter sessions.

The effects section reaches beyond a simple practice amp. BOSS says more than 60 effects are available, with up to five usable at once, while onboard controls keep common adjustments accessible without opening an editor. Deeper editing and patch management run through BOSS Tone Studio, and players can exchange sounds through the Tone Exchange community.

Bluetooth is built in for audio playback and app control, while USB-C turns the amp into a direct recording interface. A Session feature works with YouTube playback and can change Tone Settings automatically during compatible content. The cabinet also includes a tuner and headphones output, and supports wired or wireless footswitch and expression-pedal options.

The result is a deliberately smaller entry in a range better known for 50- and 100-watt stage-friendly models. It keeps the Katana workflow—amp models, layered effects and computer editing—but reshapes it for desks, bedrooms and portable practice rigs.

Why it matters

Katana is one of the most widely used modern practice-amp platforms, and a purpose-built 25-watt 1x8 model gives players a smaller entry point without removing the editing, effects and recording features that define the range.
