Gibson Revives Its Baritone Line With the 28-Inch-Scale Victory Baritone
Gibson returns to extended-scale territory for the first time since the early 2010s, pairing a B-to-B baritone with a new set of ELEV8 humbuckers.

Gibson has not built a factory baritone since the SG, Explorer and Les Paul Studio baritones of the early 2010s. That changes with the Victory Baritone, announced on August 28, which drops the extended-scale idea into the double-cutaway Victory shape the company reworked in 2024.
The spec is built for low tunings without turning into a novelty. A 28-inch scale keeps B-to-B tuning tight, and the mahogany body and glued-in mahogany neck sit under a compound-radius ebony fingerboard with 24 medium jumbo frets. Gibson fits its own newly designed ELEV8 humbuckers, wound with custom-gauge wire around alnico 8 magnets, and adds push-pull switching for coil-splits and inner or outer coil selection. It ships in British Racing Green and Graphite Metallic at $2,499.
The timing is not an accident. Baritones have had a strong 2026, helped along by Jackson's much wilder octave-down Monarkh for Sleep Token's guitarist. Gibson's take is the conservative one by comparison, aimed at players who want a heavier register without leaving familiar territory.

A mainstream baritone from Gibson signals that extended-scale guitars have moved from a metal niche to a standing catalog item, and it gives players a lower-tuned option with traditional Gibson construction rather than a boutique price tag.
