Kazakhstan-based Makeev Guitars used Guitar Summit 2026 to show off the Victor Smolski Signature, a full-scale folding electric built around the company's Easy Fold hinge system. The guitar carries a 24.75-inch scale, an alder body finished in Black Stargaze, a maple neck with a rosewood board, and a single high-gain humbucker — but it swaps a conventional headstock for Makeev's own low-profile EF Headless 6 bridge and built-in Shadow tuner, folding down to roughly 480 by 370 by 42mm for transport.

Smolski, known for his work in Rage and Almanac, has been touring and practicing on Makeev instruments for about a year; this signature model turns that private use into a production guitar carrying his initials inlaid at the twelfth fret. At $1,398, it positions the folding format as a genuine touring tool rather than a beginner travel novelty — a bet that professional players will trade a fixed headstock for a guitar that fits in overhead luggage.

Why it matters

It's a real test of whether a professional touring guitarist will accept a folding, headless instrument in place of a standard-format guitar on stage.
