Two Notes has unveiled the Torpedo Captor X Pro, its most advanced reactive load box yet, developed with Ampete Engineering. Built as a multi-impedance load box, passive attenuator and stereo DI in one unit, it switches between 4, 8 and 16 ohms and handles up to 150 watts, with switchable Reactive and Resistive load modes for shaping how an amp actually feels under load.

The unit adds programmable passive attenuation on top of that, letting players push a tube amp harder while keeping real-world volume in check — then route the result through Two Notes' DynIR cabinet simulation engine, which includes 24 impulse responses across guitar and bass, each with eight mic positions, plus twelve room simulations. Six onboard effects (including a twin tracker, reverb, mic EQ and noise gate) and a built-in tuner round out the signal chain, all controlled via a color display and deep editing through the Torpedo Remote app.

Two Notes is positioning the Captor X Pro as a single box that can go from silent practice through a real tube amp to a studio-ready direct signal, without swapping hardware for each job.

Why it matters

It's a genuine step up for silent recording and stage-volume control — giving guitarists finer control over how an amp reacts under load, not just how loud it is, in the same box that handles the cab simulation.
