A federal judge in Texas has ordered Armadillo Distribution Enterprises, the parent of Dean Guitars, to reimburse Gibson for $3,811,026.13 in attorneys’ fees and $235,417.92 in litigation costs. The September 25 order granted Gibson’s Rule 54 application in part and rejected the requested upward enhancement.

The fee award follows years of litigation over Gibson’s body-shape trademarks and a 2025 retrial that largely favored Gibson on the SG, Explorer and Flying V shapes. The financial impact is especially notable because Armadillo and Dean IP holder Concordia entered Chapter 11 proceedings in June 2026.

Why it matters

A roughly $4.05 million court-ordered obligation can materially affect a guitar manufacturer already reorganizing under bankruptcy protection, making this more than another procedural update.
