The pickup and acoustic-amplification company known for decades as LR Baggs is dropping the initials. From now on it is simply Baggs, a change timed to the firm's 50th anniversary and described as the result of a year-long review of the brand's identity. The LR always stood for founder Lloyd Baggs.
The rename arrives with a leadership move. Lloyd's daughter, Jenny Luckett, joins as creative director. "Removing the LR isn't about removing Lloyd from the story," Luckett said, framing it instead as making room for the wider group of people who built the company and will carry it forward. Lloyd Baggs said he was thrilled to have her helping guide the company into the future.
Beyond the name and logo, the company has not announced product changes tied to the anniversary, positioning the move as an identity refresh rather than a new gear launch.
Why it matters
Baggs hardware is standard kit for working acoustic players, so a full identity change plus second-generation leadership points to a deliberate generational handover at one of the category's defining brands.
