Deniz Cuylan released his third solo album, ‘For Luca’, on September 18 through Hush Hush Records. The label's own release page and Bandcamp listing both confirm the date and frame the record around Cuylan's return to acoustic guitar after roughly two decades focused heavily on synthesizers, electronics and other projects.

The eight-track album moves between guitar, piano, clarinets and electronics, with collaborators including Peni Candra Rini, Thor Harris, Felbm, Sarah La Puerta and others. Its stylistic range is unusually broad for a guitar-led release: ambient and modern-classical writing sit alongside folk and jazz language rather than treating the acoustic guitar as a genre boundary.

Why it matters

This is exactly the kind of internationally minded guitar record a mainstream gear-and-rock sweep can miss: a guitarist returning to his original instrument while using it inside a genuinely hybrid contemporary language.
