Descendents guitarist Stephen Egerton releases second solo album after Abbey Road sessions
‘I Think You’re Overthinking This’ follows Egerton’s 2010 solo debut and grew from four days of studio time gifted for his 60th birthday.

Stephen Egerton, longtime guitarist for Descendents and ALL, released ‘I Think You’re Overthinking This’ on September 11. It is his second solo album, following his 2010 debut, and this time Egerton also handles the vocals himself.
The record began with an unusual birthday present: four days in Abbey Road Studio 3. Egerton used that time to record the instrumental foundations for songs that did not naturally fit Descendents, leaning toward power-pop and 1960s pop influences, then completed vocals and mixing at his home studio in Tulsa.
For a player so strongly identified with one of punk guitar’s most influential catalogs, the album offers a useful side view of his writing and playing outside the band framework that made his name.
