Pete Roth Trio featuring Bill Bruford released ‘Group Chat’ on September 18 through Winterfold/Cherry Red. Cherry Red's own product listing confirms the date and the lineup: Pete Roth on guitar, Mike Pratt on bass and Bruford on drums, with a nine-track audio disc and a 35-minute performance DVD.
The set is especially notable because it places Roth's guitar at the center of Bruford's renewed headline-performance activity after his long retirement from live work. The repertoire moves from Roth originals into ‘Summertime’ and an improvisation on the Largo from Dvořák's Ninth Symphony, making the release as much about trio interaction as repertoire.
