Power Trip have released **“Precinct 3”** and **“Scavenger”**, the band’s first newly recorded material since the death of frontman Riley Gale in 2020. The double single is out through Blue Grape Music, with an Eric Richter-directed video accompanying “Precinct 3.”

The tracks mark the recorded debut of vocalist Seth Gilmore, a longtime friend of the group who also fronts Skourge and Fugitive. Guitarist Blake Ibanez co-produced the sessions with Jacob Hansen, while the core lineup of Ibanez, Nick Stewart, Chris Whetzel and Chris Ulsh remains intact.

Ibanez has framed the songs as both a continuation and a carefully considered new chapter, keeping Gale’s writing instincts and legacy in mind rather than treating the comeback as a reset. That balance is audible in the clipped, percussive riffing and hardcore-driven momentum that defined Power Trip’s earlier records.

A new full-length Power Trip album is planned for spring 2027. Until then, the two-track release offers the first concrete picture of how the band sounds with Gilmore at the microphone.

Why it matters

Power Trip were one of the most influential modern thrash bands of the 2010s. Their first new studio recordings in nearly a decade establish the sound and personnel of a consequential new era while preserving Blake Ibanez’s distinctive riff-first identity.
