Tom Morello has set a September 25 release for Everyone Gets Everything They Want, which he's billing as his first proper solo rock album, out on Mom + Pop. It follows a run of collaboration-heavy records under the Atlas Underground name and pulls in guests including Serj Tankian, Beartooth, and Belfast rap group Kneecap.

The most notable name is Roman Morello, Tom's 15-year-old son, credited as a co-writer on five tracks and contributing lead guitar. Two songs are already out: "Adjourn It," with Tankian and Roman, and "Date Night." Production is spread across several people, among them Dan Carey and Zakk Cervini.

Morello has kept his solo output pointed at politics for years, and the album's framing continues that. The generational hook, a teenage guitarist playing lead alongside his father on a major release, is the part that stands out musically.

Why it matters

It is Morello's first album under his own name pitched squarely as a guitar record rather than a genre-crossing experiment, and it introduces his son as a player on a national stage.
