Yamaha opened Yamaha Guitar 60th Anniversary at Shibuya on October 5 at Yamaha Sound Crossing Shibuya. The free exhibition traces six decades of the company's guitar history, from early FG acoustics to current Revstar and anniversary models, alongside instruments used by Japanese artists.
Visitors can try current TransAcoustic guitars, compare properly and poorly adjusted electric guitars, and see maintenance concepts visualized through Yamaha's developing setup-measurement technology. The programme also includes artist comments and a sequence of live events, and runs through November 23.
Why it matters
The exhibition turns Yamaha's anniversary into a practical player experience rather than a static retrospective, pairing rare historic instruments with playable technology and setup education.
