SolidGoldFX has released the FUZZBOX, a silicon fuzz based on the broad character of a Tone Bender Mk II while adding controls aimed at modern pedalboards. Music Instrument News dated the European release September 11 and lists immediate availability through Audio Distribution Group.

The pedal uses low-gain silicon transistors and adds separate Bias and Sag controls, with Sag varying the circuit voltage from roughly 9V down to 5V. A Vintage/Modern toggle changes the input response; the Modern setting is designed to retain low end and behave more predictably with wah pedals, buffers and contemporary signal chains. It is hand-built in Montreal and priced at £189 in Europe.

Why it matters

Vintage-style fuzz often interacts awkwardly with buffered or complex pedalboards. FUZZBOX is interesting because its feature set directly addresses those practical integration problems rather than merely cloning an old circuit.
