Underdog has released CHUCK firmware 1.6.0 alongside STUDIO 1.6.0, turning the floorboard amp’s seven directly accessible preset slots into seven banks. Players can select a bank by long-pressing footswitches 1–7 in Preset Mode, while the desktop editor gains both Bank View and Matrix View. The update also adds a warning before an existing preset is overwritten.
The bank system addresses a practical limitation in a device built around recallable analog voicings. CHUCK uses two E83CC tubes at roughly 250 volts, with digital control, effects and IR loading surrounding the analog preamp; previous versions exposed seven presets at the hardware level. Version 1.6.0 keeps the seven-switch workflow but creates room for substantially more organized sounds without changing the core amp architecture.
Other additions focus on editing and cabinet simulation. The IR Loader’s high- and low-cut filters can now use 12, 24 or 48 dB slopes. STUDIO adds a Discard command for unsaved changes, lets players copy Easy effect settings into Expert Mode and supports direct numeric entry by double-clicking Expert parameters. An overlay now explains when Delay has been disabled while CHUCK is in Tap Mode.
Underdog also revised the on-device save sequence and fixed a long list of operational issues, including active effects restarting when an inactive effect changed, delay LED synchronization, chorus behavior, startup state for the main EQ and several stability problems. The company recommends saving a Device Clone before installing STUDIO 1.6.0, connecting CHUCK over USB and transferring the bundled firmware through Settings.

Why it matters
Seven banks materially change how many stage-ready sounds CHUCK users can organize, while the IR slope and preset-safety changes target everyday rig management rather than adding superficial models.
