Yamaha has launched the Matteo Mancuso Signature Revstar RS20MM, a production model developed around the custom Revstar the Italian fusion guitarist has used for years. The chambered body and carbon-reinforced neck are designed for balance and resonance, while the flame-maple top, gold hardware, signature truss-rod cover and 12th-fret inlay carry over the visual identity of Mancuso’s custom instrument.
Two DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary humbuckers feed a five-position selector. Positions two and four introduce a subtle phase shift, while Yamaha’s passive Focus Switch trims treble and pushes the mids and lows forward. Yamaha says the model is intended to cover the clean articulation and heavier sounds Mancuso moves between in jazz, fusion and rock.
Why it matters
One of the most distinctive modern fingerstyle electric players now has a widely available signature instrument built around touch response and broad tonal range rather than extreme output.
