Hermanos Gutiérrez have released Los Ojos Del Cóndor, a new album out September 25 on Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound label. The record follows the Ecuadorian-Swiss brothers' recent run of acclaimed instrumental albums, this time built explicitly around the Andes as both subject and setting.

Alejandro Gutiérrez has described the project as "a love letter to South America," built to invite listeners on a journey "through the Andes" alongside the duo. The album's lead single, "Canto Andino," folds in Andean voice from Urpi María Amau Hancco and performers from the Danza Wifala de Chinchero, extending the brothers' usual guitar-duo format into a wider Indigenous musical tradition. Tracks including "Los Ojos Del Cóndor," "Ciudad Inca," "La Danza Del Viento," "Tren Macho" and "Dios de la Paz" carry that same sense of place through the rest of the record.

The result leans further into cinematic scale than the duo's earlier work, using the mountains themselves — flight, altitude, distance — as a recurring image across the album rather than a single-song reference.

Why it matters

It's a guitar-instrumental act deliberately expanding its own format — folding in Andean voice and dance traditions rather than repeating the same twin-guitar formula — on a record with real backing from Dan Auerbach's label.
