Billy Howerdel opens an auction of A Perfect Circle stage and studio gear

A Perfect Circle guitarist Billy Howerdel is opening a seven-day ANALOGr auction on November 8 with more than 120 pieces of stage, studio and archival gear. The headline item is his Yamaha AES 1500, a semi-hollow guitar he describes as his long-term “sparkle” instrument. Howerdel says it supplied his single-coil option through a coil split and can be heard on Thirteenth Step tracks including The Noose and Vanishing. ANALOGr estimates the guitar at $5,000 to $7,500.

The collection also includes a Gibson Goldtone GA-15RV combo that Howerdel says appears on roughly 40 percent of A Perfect Circle’s recorded material, plus a Fender Tone Master head and cabinet used as a studio workhorse. Axe-Fx modelers, Ernie Ball volume pedals, Voodoo Lab Ground Control switchers, flight cases, backdrops and artwork connected to Mer de Noms broaden the sale beyond a single trophy guitar. The instruments are accompanied by Howerdel’s own explanations of where they fit in the band’s working rig.

Because these are stage- and studio-used items rather than new production products, the auction belongs in player and gear coverage but not the evergreen release catalog. The direct ANALOGr listing confirms the AES 1500’s estimate and auction timing, while the current auction photography shows the actual guitar offered. The sale provides an unusually specific look at the hardware behind A Perfect Circle’s layered guitar sound as well as a chance for collectors to acquire it.
