Bruce Springsteen headlined the inaugural Power to the People Festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion on October 3, closing a day organized by Tom Morello around music, civic action and voter participation. Springsteen opened his set with “Streets of Minneapolis,” while nonprofit groups including VoteRiders and HeadCount were represented in the adjacent Freedom Village. The guitar-centered collaborations spread across the bill. Morello played “Like a Stone” with Serj Tankian in tribute to Chris Cornell and later joined Dave Grohl for “Rock and Roll All Nite.” Jack Black’s youth-backed “Jack Sabbath” set brought out Geezer Butler for “War Pigs,” and the festival concluded with the full cast on “This Land Is Your Land” and “Power to the People.”
