EarthQuaker Devices gives Plumes Jr and Blumes Jr a limited MOSFET makeover
The compact overdrives trade their familiar asymmetrical silicon voice for a more open MOSFET mode, with only 3,000 pedals planned between the two models.

EarthQuaker Devices has released limited MOSFET editions of the Plumes Jr and Blumes Jr, moving both overdrive circuits into its smaller junior enclosure and changing the third clipping voice. Plumes Jr is aimed at guitar, while Blumes Jr extends the same idea toward bass, synthesizers and extended-range instruments.
The three-position switch keeps the pair's LED clipping and unclipped op-amp boost modes. The new M position replaces the usual asymmetrical silicon arrangement with MOSFET clipping, which EarthQuaker describes as more open, harmonically rich and fuller in the low end, with a response modeled on a modern high-gain valve amplifier. Level, Gain and Tone remain the only controls, so the altered clipping stage is the central change rather than a larger redesign.
Both pedals measure 38 × 95 × 51 mm, draw 25 mA from a standard centre-negative 9 V supply, and use mechanical true bypass. Mixdown reports a total run of 3,000 units—2,000 Plumes Jr pedals and 1,000 Blumes Jr pedals—built by hand in Akron, Ohio. US pricing is $129 for either model.
For players who already know the original circuits, the practical appeal is easy to place: the junior format saves pedalboard space, while the MOSFET setting offers a different gain texture without sacrificing the clean-boost and LED voices. The limited allocation also makes this a defined variant rather than a replacement for the standard Plumes or Blumes.

Why it matters
It is a compact, affordable variation on two established overdrives, and the MOSFET mode changes the circuit's usable voice rather than only its artwork or finish.
