Soundgarden's surviving members returned to the stage at the Seattle Seahawks' September 9 home opener, joined by The Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen and Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready. Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd performed Outshined and Spoonman during halftime at Lumen Field, while McCready also played the national anthem before the game.

The Seahawks had announced the collaboration in August, but the performance itself was the fresh event. Blabbermouth and Guitar World documented the set after it happened; Guitar World also noted the unusual significance of hearing Spoonman from the surviving band in the post-Chris Cornell era.

Why it matters

The performance brought together three central figures from Seattle's guitar history in a rare Soundgarden appearance, making it more than a routine guest spot or tour-date recap.
